The Golden Rule (黄金律)

Have you ever wondered what happened to all those wallets (財布) and safes (金庫) that got washed up (打ち上げられる) during the tsunami?
Well, it seems that there was money galore (たくさん; 多数; 豊富) in all the rubble (粗石; 破片; 断片; がれき),
but what is unprecedented (前例・先例のない) is that most of it have been returned to their owners.
Over 2.3 billion yen (23億円) in cash have been returned showing that many Japanese indeed (実に; 本当に) practice The Golden Rule,
which is, "Do unto others as you would have others do unto you (自分が他人にしてもらいたいようにほかの人にしなさい。)."

TIP: What goes around, comes around (自分の行いは自分に返ってくる。)

Some people say this is the law of the universe (宇宙の法則), but let's not forget,
"What goes around, comes around."
To those citizens who have shown a high level of ethical awareness (倫理的な意識) by returning all that money,
I hope they can be met with good fortune.
But for all of us, if we can remember to do good unto others, especially in this time of crisis (危機),
I'm sure blessings (恵み) will come in return.
